About Joel...
Joel Roberts, the owner of Mechanic Street MUGs, has spent the last 30 years in the crafts business. As a potter and educator himself, he started out making pottery in his garage and taking care of his two children in Oakland, California.
He opened his first gallery/studio in Harwich Port, MA on Cape Cod in 1998. Then in the spring of 2003 he moved to New Hope to open this delightful mug shop gallery.

When you visit, you'll get an eyeful of his unique perspective of the durability of craft as art.

 About the Store...

Mechanic Street MUGs opened on July 4th, 2003. Specializing in the MUG form, Joel searches most of both coasts to find interesting and sometimes humorous, crafted objects, and many colorful and well-made cups and mugs.

If you have an old favorite cup or mug you have just broken he can maybe help you find a replacement or help find you a new one too.

The combination of new and old, hand made and manufactured, ceramics, fine art, vintage collectibles, folk art, glass, fabric art, hand crafted wooden furniture, and refurbished pieces all seem to fit in this classic 250 year old New Hope workman's cottage on Mechanic Street.

About the Area...
Mechanic Street Mugs is an easy 60 minutes from Philadelphia PA, and a comfortable 90 minutes from New York City. It's very close to Washington's Crossing and many other historical sites.
There are many lovely places to eat and stay in the River Cities area. With Lambertville NJ just a short walk across the Delaware River, there's much to see and do once you arrive in New Hope.
Plan a visit to this fun and creative crafts store the next time you visit the Historic Delaware River Valley and New Hope Pennsylvania.
